Beignets

These heavenly bites are just so light and easy to make they are perfect for a quick dessert.

Ingredients

  • Flour - 250 gms
  • Salt 5 gms
  • Mawana Select Caster Sugar - 30 gms
  • Butter - 50 gms
  • Fresh Yeast - 10 gms
  • Egg - 1
  • Lukewarm water - approximately - 100 ml

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, dissolve yeast & sugar in 3tbsp warm water.
  2. Put the flour on a work surface, add the yeast mixture.
  3. Make a dough, add water little by little. Add the butter and Cover till double in size  for up to ½  hours.
  4. Roll out the dough to 1/8 inch thick. Cut into 2½  inch squares. Again let it double.
  5. Fry in hot oil till golden colour.
  6. Drain onto paper towels.
  7. Sprinkle icing/caster sugar on hot beignets. Serve warm with melted chocolate.
  8. Please Note: If the oil is not hot enough the beignets wont pop up.
